Celebrity Cruises

Since 1989, Celebrity Cruises sets the standard when it comes to superior quality service.

It boats well-designed ships that let you explore the best destinations. Thus, we can say that Celebrity Cruises opens a world of wonders to its guests.

Plus, the expedition includes an exceptional culinary experience.

History

Founded in 1989 by Chandris Group, Celebrity Cruises established the Greece-based company as an up-market, big ship operator.

Chandris Group launched its first cruise ship, S.S. Meridian, in 1990, followed by the launch of Celebrity Horizon. Two years later, they launched the Celebrity Zenith.

When these ships left the fleet from 1997 to 2007, Celebrity Cruises introduced a sleeker and larger Century Brand.

It features sophisticated design elements and onboard art collections. The brand also has three ships: Celebrity Century (1995), Celebrity Galaxy (1996), and Celebrity Mercury (1997).

In 1997, the Chandris Group sold their interests in Celebrity Cruises to Royal Caribbean Cruise Line. This paved the way to modern-era Millennium-brand ships.

Between 2000 and 2002, Celebrity delivered a quartet of new ships under its Millennium brand. These are Millennium, Infinity, Summit, and Constellation, which are all gas turbine-powered.

In 2001, the Royal Caribbean bought Celebrity Expedition, a boutique vessel that offers cruises around the Galapagos Islands. Afterward, the line launched the Celebrity Expeditions sub-brand.

Four years later, the Royal Caribbean ordered the first Solstice-brand vessel from Meyer Werft. And in 2007, they renamed all Celebrity Cruises.

In December 2014, Celebrity Cruises signed a letter of intent for a new class of vessels with STX France.

These are two 117,000 GT ships; both have the guest capacity of 2,900. Developed under Project EDGE, it will build upon the brand’s Millennium and Solstice vessels.

And in 2018, STX France delivered the first Edge-brand vessel, Celebrity Edge.

Logo

The line’s logo, “X” represents the Greek letter “chi.” It stands for “Chandris.” All Celebrity ships carry this logo on their funnel except the Expedition brand.

Design

Celebrity Cruises pride itself on its industry-leading ship design.

Every ship in its fleet delivers an innovative, imaginative, and impeccable style. Passengers can enjoy an intimate outdoor oasis at the Lawn Club, which features a quarter-acre of real grass.

They also have the two-story Wine Tower in the main restaurant on aboard its Solstice Class ships.

Meanwhile, the Persian Garden boasts swells of steam and tropical rain showers. Passengers can also lounge al fresco at the Rooftop Terrace onboard the Millennium Class ships.

Edge class ships mark a turning point in the cruise line’s approach to ship design.

From sketches to the virtual reality setting, all designs used 3D technology. Thus, they were able to put the new Magic and the private plunge pools in place in the two-story Edge Villas.

No wonder, the line has the most refined ships at sea.

Its unique outward-facing design breaks from traditional ship design. While aboard the Celebrity Edge, you will feel connected with the sea and the places you will visit.

The ships are also outfitted with a terraced pool deck that offers even more magnificent views of the destinations and shimmer of ocean.

Accommodation

In Celebrity Cruises, accommodations reflect the inspired design you will find elsewhere onboard.

For your unique retreat at sea, 90% of their staterooms provide outside views. Thus, the world’s most incredible destinations are ready to welcome you each day of your journey.

Celebrity’s Aqua Class staterooms deliver unmatched amenities like exclusive access to Blu. On the other hand, the Concierge Class Suites bring you personalized service, which is a truly modern luxury experience.

Culinary

Celebrity Cruises has globally inspired menus, locally sourced ingredients, and food made by a Michelin-starred chef. The check is also responsible for overseeing and ensuring that each guest will enjoy the best culinary experience at sea.

From sushi creations with fresh wasabi at Sushi on Five to the Italian restaurant and enoteca Tuscan Grille, their unique culinary creations are fresh, never frozen, and always flavorful.

And beverages are certainly not held back. The Cruise line got the most extensive wine list at sea served by world-class sommeliers. You can also enjoy hand-crafted cocktails on an ice-topped Martini Bar.

Service

With an almost two is to one guest-to-staff ratio, the friendly, personal attention you desire is close at hand.

You can grab a fresh towel from the poolside staff, or be amazed at the attention to detail of the Clefs d’Or butlers. That’s because the Suite Class provides you with a personal butler.

The Celebrity Cruises aims to please you with exceptional service from start to end of your journey.

Destination

With over 300 ports of call, Celebrity Cruises can bring the world to you.

You can visit your favorite cities or explore bucket list locales. The choice is yours, and it’s one you can do over and over.

Also, you can add variation to your travel list since there are many destinations to choose from.

Add overnight stays, signature sailings, and exotic expeditions to the Galapagos Islands, and you’ve got an unraveled array of voyage options to create your ideal cruise experience.

The Fleet

The fleet consists of four classes, the Millennium, Solstice, Expedition, and Edge.

The Millennium Class

Launched in 2000, Celebrity Cruises’ Celebrity Millennium boasts the industry’s first application of gas turbine engines. It reduces exhaust emissions by up to 95%, unlike any traditional propulsion systems.

Together with her sister ships, Celebrity Millennium almost doubled the line’s capacity in two years.

Also, culinary has always been famous for the line. That’s because they are popular for making gastronomy a part of the passenger’s vacation experience.

Celebrity Millennium introduced the concept of specialty dining to the industry. And it has evolved its award-winning culinary offerings ever since.

Each Millennium Class ship boasts unmatched dining with distinctive and tantalizing dining options found across the fleet.

The Solstice Class

The Solstice Class takes stylish cruising and impeccable service to new heights.

They carry forward the Celebrity’s commitment to designing stunning ships and creating inviting onboard experiences for travelers who truly appreciate the more beautiful things.

Celebrity’s Solstice Class features The Lawn Club. An outdoor, country club-like venue featuring a lawn of real, lush grass where guests can practice their putting, play lawn games like croquet and bocce ball.

Passengers are also allowed to grill outdoors at The Lawn Club Grill. They can enjoy a quiet retreat under the sun or stars at the Alcoves, eight cabanas overlooking The Lawn Club, and fantastic ocean views.

Celebrity’s Solstice Class ships are also the first in the industry to use solar technology. Mind you, some of their solar panels serve a dual purpose of providing shade within the Solarium and producing energy.

The Expedition Class

In 2004 Celebrity Cruises launched Celebrity Xpedition. It is a luxury mega-yacht that offers year-round itineraries to the enchanting Galapagos Islands.

These itineraries offer once-in-a-lifetime opportunities for the guests. The journey introduces them to one of the world’s most pristine natural environments.

In 2016, Xpedition added the 48-person Xperience and 16-person Xploration vessels to its fleet.

Both are intimate and spacious ships that deliver unmatched cruise experience. Besides, these vessels are designed to explore the Galapagos Islands in style.

The Expedition Class offers luxurious onboard amenities and destinations. Plus, an expert naturalist is onboard every voyage to educate and inspire exploration.

The best part? Local fishermen supply fresh seafood for an exceptional dining experience.

The Edge Class

Celebrity Edge is the latest breakthrough in modern luxury travel. But it is the first in line’s new class of ships that use 3D technology in its ship design. Thus, they were able to fine-tune every detail of the vessel.

The line’s visionary approach to the architecture of Celebrity Edge is only one aspect of the story.

They also carefully selected a team of the world’s best designers new to the cruise industry. This is to ensure that every aspect of Edge would be a departure from traditional thinking about cruising.

Part of the design team is the new Design Ambassador, award-winning interior designer Nate Berkus.

In collaboration with Nate Berkus, the line can elevate every aspect of Celebrity Edge’s design to unprecedented new heights.

That said, Celebrity Edge is the embodiment of design excellence at sea and anywhere in the world.

Celebrity Cruises offers a unique expedition at sea. From attention to details to impeccable ship design, you will notice that every vessel aims to provide its passengers luxurious service.

And this is not limited to the onboard experience. You cal also experience luxury to the world’s best destinations.
